Testosterone care from a urologist.
Urology is the specialty that has managed testosterone longest: evaluating it, replacing it when warranted, and often finding the real problem hiding behind a low number. Dr. Nelson is a board-certified urologist with 28 years of practice in men's health, and at Peri, TRT sits inside that full context — sexual function, urinary health, fertility, and metabolic health are part of the same conversation rather than three separate appointments.
The symptoms men talk themselves out of.
- Energy that fades by mid-afternoon no matter how they slept
- A slow shift in body composition: softer middle, harder-won muscle
- Drive that has quietly gone missing, in the gym and in the bedroom
- A shorter fuse, a flatter mood, a focus that won't hold
Any of these can have a dozen causes, and testosterone is only sometimes the answer. That is exactly why the evaluation matters.
Diagnosed carefully, or not at all.
A TRT decision here starts with a real workup: an unhurried history, a panel that looks at testosterone in context rather than in isolation, and a conversation about what the numbers mean next to how you actually feel. Timing and repeat testing matter, because one value on one morning is not a diagnosis. And sometimes the workup says no. If your labs and history don't support replacement, we will tell you that directly and keep looking for what is driving the symptoms.
Monitoring is most of the job.
Starting testosterone is the easy part. Replacement shifts a system, and a physician needs to watch the whole system respond, so follow-up is built into the plan from the first visit: labs repeated on a defined cadence, results explained line by line, adjustments made from both the data and how you feel. Fertility deserves its own conversation, and it is one to have with a urologist before treatment starts, not after.
