For men, it means treating erectile and desire changes as data worth investigating — often an early prompt to look at the bigger hormonal and metabolic picture — rather than something to wave off or reflexively prescribe past.

Dr. Nelson is a board-certified urologist with 28 years of practice in the specialty that has handled sexual medicine most directly. That matters twice over. Comfort: there is nothing you can bring into this room that he hasn't heard, worked up, and treated many times before. And rigor: sexual symptoms are often the visible edge of something measurable — hormonal, vascular, metabolic, or medication-related — and a physician trained to look for those causes asks different questions and orders different labs.
